Illinois Sales Tax Rate Changes for Certain Municipalities Effective July 1, 2025

Heads up, Illinois! Starting July 1, 2025, some municipalities in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, and McHenry Counties will see changes in their sales tax rates.

Please update your cash registers and computer systems to account for the change. Make sure your sales staff knows to adjust their quotes for the change in rates if materials are going to be purchased or delivered after July 1, 2025.

Nearby municipalities that have increased their rates are Addison – DuPage County (+0.25%), Bartlett – Cook County (+0.75%), Bartlett – DuPage County (+0.75%), Bartlett – Kane County (+0.75%), Blue Island – Cook County (+1.00%), Bull Valley – McHenry County (+1.00%), East Dundee (IL RTE 72 & 25 Business District) – Kane County (+0.25%), Highwood – Lake County (+0.25%), Kenilworth – Cook County (+1.00%),  Richmond - McHenry County (+1.00%), Sleepy Hollow – Kane County (+0.50%),  South Elgin-Kane County (+0.50%), Spring Grove – McHenry County (+0.25%), Westmont – DuPage County (+0.50%), and Wonder Lake - McHenry County (+1.00%).

Other counties in Illinois including Bureau, Clinton, Coles, DeWitt, Douglas, Effingham, Henry, Kankakee, Knox, LaSalle, Livingston, Madison, McLean, Morgan, Peoria, Rock Island, Saline, Sangamon, St. Clair, Tazewell, Union, Wabash, Whiteside, and Woodford have also changed their rates.
